Setting up a domain from GoDaddy

3 min. readlast update: 06.11.2024

Please note: your GoDaddy interface may be slightly different, but the basics are the same! In a nutshell, you need to set the A Record and CName Record as described below!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Setting up your GoDaddy domain with Tubespace is easy, however there are several steps. It is important to perform the steps exactly as shown here:

1) Enter your custom domain in Tubespace

Enter your domain in Custom Domain Settings here:https://admin.tubespace.io/settings/domainSettings (note: if you're here, you may have already done this)

2) Make changes in GoDaddy

  1. Log into your GoDaddy dashboard and go to your Domains List
  2. Find the domain you want to use with Tubespace and click on it.
  3. Scroll down to Additional Settings and click on the Manage DNS text link:

undefined

Turn OFF Forwarding

  1.  Scroll down to "Forwarding" and make sure your domain isn't being forwarded anywhere.

Set CNAME Record

  1. IF there is already a CNAME Record with www in the Name column, click Edit and proceed to #3 in this list.
  2.  IF there is not already a CNAME Record with www in the Name column, click the Add button and choose CNAME as the Type, and continue:
  3. Enter www in the Name field (its probably already there)
  4. Enter domains.tubespace.io in the Data (or Value) field (enter exactly that, do not replace "domains" with your domain)
  5. Set TTL to 1/2 Hour
  6. Click "Save"

Important ! : there can only be one CNAME Record _with "www" in the Name field_. If there are more than one, the extras must be deleted.

Set A-Record

  1. IF there is already an A Record with @ in the Name column, click Edit and proceed to #4 in this list
  2. IF there is not already an A Record with @ in the Name column, click the Add button and choose A as the Type to add a new A Record
  3. Enter @ in the Name field
  4. Enter 18.189.85.40 in the Data (or Value) field
  5. Set TTL to 1/2 Hour
  6. Click "Save"

Important ! : there can only be one A Record _with "@" in the Name field_. If there are more than one, the extras must be deleted.

3) Check if you did everything correctly:

[Check Status Here](https://admin.tubespace.io/settings/domainSettings/)**

This is what the check status area looks like:

Do you need HELP?

Domains are tricky and sometimes things may have changed at GoDaddy since we wrote this article, but don't worry - we'll get this figured out together!

FIRST, go back and make sure ALL parts of these instructions were followed.

The most common mistakes are entering the CNAME and/or A-Record incorrectly. They must look identical to the examples in this article.

After double-checking you've followed these instructions, if things still aren't working, don't hesitate to use the chat bubble at the bottom-right of this page to ask for help.
